ICSI

Technique associated with IVF

If the sperm have problems

ICSI is a laboratory technique used in some IVF cycles which consists in introducing a sperm in each oocyte using a micropipette.

The quality and proportion of embryos obtained with this technique is equivalent to that obtained in conventional IVF; therefore, the probability of achieving a pregnancy and developing with normality are the same.

Is indicated in:
1. Bad quality or low concentration of sperm
2. Failure of conventional fertilization in a previous IVF cycle.
3. Obstructive azoospermia, when it is necessary to use sperm obtained from a testicular biopsy.
