Coming from abroad? We can help you?

About us
URH García del Real is a human reproduction unit accredited by the Spanish Healthcare Authority.

Assisted Reproduction Techniques with
high pregnancy rates and quality of care are offered by a team of gynaecologists and biologists with years of experience in this field and with total availability.
Most of the patients coming to our center from abroad are interested in IVF treatments, specially involving egg or semen donation.
URH-García del Real is a leading group in Spain offering IVF with single embryo transfer in couples with a good prognosis, obtaining high pregnancy rates with low risk of multiple pregnancy, which is the most common complication of IVF.

Legislation in Spain
The legislation in Spain (May 2006) allows egg and semen donation in all women who wish to do so, regardless of marital status or sexual orientation. This process is anonymous, so the identity of the donor cannot be revealed. The clinical team must select donors according to the physical characteristics and blood group of the recipients (patients are not allowed to choose a donor).
Preimplantation diagnosis and embryo freezing is allowed in Spain, but surrogacy is forbidden, and embryo sex selection is only allowed in case of sex related genetic diseases.

Treatments
You can make your first appointment with us by e-mail: info@urh.es or by telephone 34-917401690

First visit:
It is important that both members of the couple attend a first interview in which details of your medical history will be recorded, and a plan for the diagnosis and treatment will be made. If you have results of any previous tests or treatments you may bring them with you. It is specially useful to have results on hormonal tests (FSH, LH, Oestradiol, TSH, PRL in day 3 to 5 of the menstrual cycle) and a transvaginal scan from the woman, and a sperm test from the man. Your stay in Madrid can be for less than 24 hours.

Second visit:
Other diagnostic tests might be needed before treatment, but they can be performed either in your country of origin or with us. Further discussions on those results can take place in a second interview or through e-mail (if you send results by fax o e-mail).
Once we have decided on the treatment you wish to undergo, we shall explain to you all the details and possible starting dates.

Staying:
If you need IVF, with or without semen donation, you will need to come to Madrid for 7-10 days. If you need egg donation, there is no waiting list but it could take between 1 to 3 months to find the appropriate donor for a recipient. Once the donor is found you will need to come for 2 or 3 days for the embryo transfer.
